Sapotes
Sapotes (sometimes called marmalade plums) are a tropical fruit commonly used as an ingredient in ice creams. They are becoming more popular for private consumption in smoothies, salads, and desserts.
A sapote is ripe when the flesh inside is red or brown in color. If the inside flesh is still green, it can be left sitting out at room temperature until the fruit ripens. Ripened sapotes can be stored for up to one week in the refrigerator.
